The Allen Heritage Guild, Inc. is asking your help to save the Farmhouse at the Allen Heritage Village. The roof is our top priority right now! The actual structure is sound; however, the roof is unsightly and in poor condition and continues to deteriorate. The deterioration will eventually take the entire front of the house--if we don't do something--and do it soon. The City has funded other work at the Village, but this structure is further down on the list for restoration. We hope to raise the funds to put a new roof on by the first of the year. If we can raise the money, we can move ahead with a roof-saving the house.
That's where lovers of history come in... WE NEED YOU! WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT AND DONATIONS. We have established a sponsorship program and we hope we can count on you. We need to raise $25,000. Please help the Allen Heritage Guild, Inc. - SAVE THE FARMHOUSE!
The Allen Heritage Guild is a 501(c) 3 corporation, so your contributions are tax deductible. The Guild was the project of Leadership Allen Class VII and was incorporated in January 1996. At the present time, the Guild has approximately 70 members/volunteers. The Mission of the Guild is "to preserve and promote the Heritage and Spirit of Allen."
Projects of the Allen Heritage Guild include:
Restoration of St. Mary Church; it is used for events and weddings
Research and development of photographic collages of Allen buildings, families, etc., for display in the Heritage Center
Develop an historic drivng tour-complete with brochure of Allen
Develop exhibits and events for education at the Heritage Center, thereby making it a museum for Allen history
Partner with the Allen Parks and Recreation Department to develop an Historic Village for Allen located at 450 E. St. Mary Drive
Work with the City to plan and develop the location of buildins and help with the restoration and maintenance of those buildings
Rent the Churches for weddings and other events
Host educational events and tours for children and adults
The Allen Heritage Village will be a local educational facility as well as a gathering place for families and groups
The Village is to be divided into 3 sections showing the progress of Allen, Texas:
The FRONTIER period showcases the house/stagecoach stop in the 1870's, before the railroad.
The URBAN period features the Allen Christian Church and the 2 bungalows--Allen was in its "heh-day" in the early part of the 20th century.
The last section is the AGRICULTURAL period. Until the late 1960's this was the most important industry for Allen. Our FARMHOUSE, barn shed, and tenant house will respresent the importance of farming to this area. This FARMHOUSE is the last one in the area (from Allen), and came with its barn and shed.
This piece of Allen's history deserves to be preserved for future generations and The Allen Heritage Guild, Inc., asks again for your help toward this endeavor. Please look over the sponsorship levels below and contribute what you can to help save an important piece of our history.
Thank you for your support!!!
